Mary-Ruth Newell
Pottery/Metalwork
Studio #10

I began taking pottery lessons in the 90's. I was fortunate enough to study under established potters Ron Roy, Steven Hill, and Barb Peel. I built a wood-fired kiln and began producing a wide range of functional work in 1998. My log studio was built in 2003 and I have been a full-time potter since then.
Drawn by a fascination with fire and molten steel I began to explore blacksmithing in 2015. Aside from a workshop at the Waldie Forge, Milton I am entirely sef-taught. I find it highly rewarding to learn a new skill and relying on my own creativity to produce a useful and an estheticly pleasing item.
