Using Sgrafitto technique, Karen carves images into clay that are inspired by daily life among windswept pine trees, canoe bows, sunflowers and critters of the wilderness. Her stoneware pottery is both functional and sculptural.

Recently, using carving tools for wood, Karen has started to carve similar designs into wood blocks. These blocks are either used for printing purposes, cards and prints, or blocks can be displayed on the wall.
