Michelle Bruce – Jewellery

Michelle Bruce is a New Brunswick based jewellery artist. She graduated with a degree in Geology from the University of Western Ontario. Her knowledge of minerals, fossils and gemstones is vital to her selection of materials for her work—something her customers appreciate when selecting unique, handcrafted pieces.
Her metal of choice is copper, valued for its versatility, affordability and the rich patinas it develops through torching and chemical treatments. She also works with Argenti um sterling silver which allows for fusing techniques that bring greater artistic freedom.
Michelle for many years owned and operated her own successful retail gallery in Barry’s Bay Ontario. She enjoyed passing her love of beading and metalsmithing on to others through the offering of numerous classes.
Michelle’s work is best described as organic, colorful and diverse—ensuring she never gets complacent with her designs. Nature is her biggest inspiration, influencing her signature copper flowers, pea pods and leaves.
Rather than sketching out designs in advance, Michelle often lets the stones guide her creations. She carefully selects stones based on shape and color, deciding whether they will be best complemented by copper or silver. Larger stones often find their place in copper settings, keeping her work accessible while maintaining the high quality of craftsmanship.
